Objective: In the world of organizations, due to their different characteristics and types of service provision, the role of the fire department as a vital organ in helping people in need is undoubtedly very necessary and important. The aim of the upcoming research is to explain the mediating role of job satisfaction in investigating the impact of adaptability and commitment on the job performance of employees in crisis management, focusing on the fire department.
Methods: The current research method is descriptive-correlation and applied studies. The data collection tool is a standard questionnaire and the questions were asked in the form of a Likert scale. The statistical population includes 80 employees of the fire department of Qom province, who were selected by simple random sampling, and among them, a sample of 60 people completely completed the questionnaires. The four research variables are: career adaptability, job commitment, job satisfaction and job performance, among which job satisfaction was assumed to be a mediating variable. Data reliability was tested and confirmed by using Cronbach's alpha criterion and their validity with the help of two indices of convergent validity and Discriminant validity. In this research, the data were measured by structural equation modeling method with partial least squares approach and using Warp Pls 7.0 software.
Findings: The test of the hypotheses of this research showed that job commitment has a significant effect on job satisfaction by 69% (with a significance level <0/001), the effect of career adaptability on job satisfaction was rejected by 17% (with a significance level of 0/087), and the mediating effect of job satisfaction on job performance by 32% (with a significance level <0/004) showed the confirmation of this relationship.
Conclusion: The results of this research, taking into account the conditions of the employees of the fire department in the field of crisis management, showed that the effect of job commitment on job performance with the mediation of job satisfaction has a significant effect of 22% (with a significance level <0/001), but the effect of career adaptability on job performance even considering the mediating variable of job satisfaction It was not confirmed and it was rejected by calculating a path coefficient of 5% (with a significance level >0/05).
