Background and objective Cities, especially urban areas, are exposed to the effects of many natural disasters and acute disasters, such as earthquakes, which can affect city boundaries. Therefore, it is necessary to assess the seismic vulnerability of worn-out structures in the face of possible accidents and hazards, so that the worn-out structures of cities are more resistant to natural disasters and ready to deal with disasters and pressures. This study assesses the seismic vulnerability of the worn fabric of Hasirabad in Ahvaz against earthquakes.
Method This research adopted a development-applied research method based on the approach of structural spatial studies. Therefore, the seven indicators were extracted and analyzed using Geoda and ArcGIS software.
Results Thematic results showed that among the indicators affecting the seismic vulnerability of the worn-out fabric, the building skeleton and the age of the building are the most effective with coefficients of 1.94 and 1.03. Also, the location results showed that 290,665 square meters, that is, 26% of the total worn texture area with vulnerability levels of 0.01, are in a completely vulnerable state.
Conclusion The results of the investigation of the level of vulnerability in worn texture show that in area No. 1, 39.4% of the surfaces are completely vulnerable, in area No. 2, 40% of the buildings have medium vulnerability and relatively are susceptible to damage, and in area No. 3, 29.9% of buildings have moderate vulnerability.
